How did you learn to sew and when?
9 years ago I quit my job to care for Jaiyana who was born with half of a heart. After the hospital life had settled down I started making bows for Jaiyana. After a few months of hand sewing bows I bought a sewing machine and started to teach myself how to sew simple little things. I soon discovered pdf sewing patterns. At that time Google was my best friend as I had no idea what any of the sewing terminology meant! Soon enough I got the hang of it. It was amazing how a piece of fabric could be transformed into a beautiful garment! It’s been 7 years since I first picked up a needle and thread, and there’s no going back! Jaiyana has just started showing interest in sewing, and I look forward to teaching her.
What is your favourite type of fabric to work with?
Ooohh that’s a tough one! I’d say any and all wovens with a dash of sparkles.
What advice would you give to someone learning to sew?
Don’t give up!
