About Us

Peony Patterns was founded by Natasha Chrismas in July 2020. The company is based in Northern NSW, Australia. Our incredible team of international designers and admin team are based in USA, Singapore and the Switzerland.

Peony Patterns include clear step by step instructions, colour photographs, video tips, layered sizing and helpful techniques to construct the garment with ease. Metric and Imperial measurements are provided to cater to sewists all over the world.

It brings us joy to see sewists share their creativity and talent, from very beginners to highly experienced creators  – come and join our Facebook Sewing Group to share your photos of your garments, ask questions and be inspired. 

We acknowledge the Arakwal People of the Bundjalung Nation, the traditional owners of this land. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and honour those whose culture and customs have nurtured and continue to nurture this land. Black Lives Matter. Peony Patterns fosters an inclusive sewing community where Black sewists are valued and respected. We believe in recognition and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' rights as First People of Australia and as such wish to show our support and take action, by making an annual donation to  charities that make a difference in indigenous lives and future. We encourage people to actively research and educate themselves on what they can do to take a stand and fight for justice and equality. (Update: Thank you for your support in 2020 and 2021 which has allowed Peony Patterns to make a donation to ANTaR on the 29/12/2020 and 27/06/2021). In 2022 (8/1/2022)  and 2023 (21/04/23) Peony Patterns donated to Childrens Ground

 



Our Team

 

Natasha Chrismas -  Owner/Designer 
Natasha is based in the Northern Rivers, NSW, Australia. She learned to sew from a young age, spending a lot of time in her grandmothers sewing room being taught the ins and outs of sewing by her grandmother and mother. Her passion for designing was built over 7 years of running a handmade business making children's clothing. She studied at TAFE and online to become a pattern maker and designed digital patterns for a US based company before launching Peony Patterns. Her focus is to design beautiful and modern unique sewing patterns for sewists with all levels of skill.



Laura Hilton - Head Designer 
Born and raised in Alaska, Laura currently lives in Utah with her husband and 5 kids. Along with studying art, design and pattern drafting, Laura has worked as a stylist in the children’s clothing industry for the past several years, her style is contemporary with a nod towards the nostalgic. When she isn’t sewing Laura enjoys being active in her community, attending her boys’ many many many soccer games, and traveling as much as possible.




Carlie Di Cecco - Designer & Tutorial Developer 
Carlie is from the East Gippsland area located in Victoria, Australia. She lives with her husband and four children and two fur babies, Bevan and Betsy. When she is not sewing she enjoys listening to music and loves to support the Australian live music scene. She discovered her passion for sewing after her youngest child was born and owned her own fabric business for many years. Carlie and Natasha worked together previously designing children's clothing patterns. Her aesthetic leans towards sweet styles with a vintage twist. 




Jodie Pascoe - Embroidery Designer 
Jodie lives in the rural town of Crookwell, located in the southern tableland of NSW, Australia. She lives with her husband and two rambunctious boys. She  loves to sew, embroidery and craft, and when she isn't stitching up a storm she  enjoys entering sewing competitions, making candles and helping local charities and associations such as CWA (country woman’s association), Meals on Wheels and Riding for the Disabled. She designs beautiful vintage inspired embroidery patterns that include multiple techniques that suit the beginner, right through to the advanced embroiderer. 

 


Amber Campbell - Designer 
Amber was born and raised in Utah, but now calls NW Missouri home. Amber developed a love for sewing and quilting from a very young age, but the discovery of PDF sewing patterns quickly changed her love into a passion! Aside from sewing, she enjoys remodeling her 140 year old home with her husband and repurposing furniture. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education that she is currently using to homeschool her 6 children. 


Annie Arana - Designer

Annie is a mum of two, based in Perth, Western Australia. She rediscovered her passion for sewing when her daughter Ava was born, creating a highly loved handmade sewing business (Luna's Nursery) selling cot sheets, which progressed into beautiful garments and then on to learn patternmaking. Annie loves to create knit garments and patterns and leans towards modern and cute designs.


Angie Chia - Admin/Test Group Manager 

Angie is in charge of admin and does an incredible job of running most of the background work in our test groups. She grew up in Singapore and lives there with her husband and daughter. After taking a permanent career break from the banking industry, Angie decided to pick up sewing again and took a few professional certification courses in drafting. She's been hooked on sewing ever since. Angie loves anything creative such as sewing, embroidery, photography and cooking. When she is not sewing, she enjoys yoga and reading.  You can find Angie on instagram as pocketful_of_rainbows88 sewing not only for her daughter but many womenswear style. She also sews the occasional menswear for her long suffering husband and NO she will not hem his pants. 


Natasha Tung - Admin / Pinterest
Originally from Tasmania, Australia, Nat moved to the Washington DC metro area for a one-year work placement in 2005. She met her New Yorker husband that same year, and three kids later, she’s probably never going to leave! Nat’s been machine sewing since she was 12 (hand sewing since she was 9 or so), but didn’t get any good at it until 2013 when she discovered indy sewing patterns. Since then, she’s been pattern testing and promoting fabric for various sewing companies, and improving her photography skills along the way. With a business degree from the University of Tasmania, Nat attempts to use her marketing background to help run the Peony Pinterest account and provide too many suggestions to Tash. Ashleigh Croad - Sew Along Host
Ashleigh is our amazing Sew Along Host, creating the most wonderful videos for our customers to sew along step by step with! She was taught to sew by her grandma, when she was younger and after having her daughter Harlow 8 years ago, was inspired to start sewing again. Now she sews full time for her small business Sew Smitten, based in Australia, and also for her 2 children, Harlow and Roman.

Sarah Riche - Admin/Instagram 
Sarah is the wonderful person behind all of our Instagram posts and also handles our newsletters! She grew up in Louisana and is a mom of 3 gorgeous kids, working as a full time HR manager. She sews primarily for her daughter Nora. You can find Sarah's work here.
