(P.S. we have lots more photos in the Peony Patterns Facebook Group!)

Cruella

Wow! Bec Smith (@twice.loved.creations) knocked it out of the park with her daughter's Cruella de Vil costume! The detailing is impeccable, and gathering all that tulle is mind blowing!  Bec's favourite part is the military style jacket with all the little trinkets featuring on it, and we agree!

Patterns: Lantana bodice/Acacia sleeves (jacket); Freesia bodice with Juniper maxi length skirt (red dress); Appleberry waistband (Black organza ruffle skirt)

Fabric: Spotlight Australia; Luna Wedding & Event Supplies

Barbie

Our testers had a moment to shine earlier this year when the Barbie movie came out - we celebrated Peony's 3rd birthday with Barbie inspired looks during the week of the movie's premiere. None of them included Weird Barbie though, and we are HERE FOR IT!  Lauren Lasseigne (@ladylasseigne) wowed us with her take on Weird Barbie - we love her creativity, especially the hand painted fabric!

Patterns: Myrtle

Fabric: Robert Kaufman Kona quilt cotton solid in bright pink

Godzilla

Lucy James (@lucyinseattle) created this stunning recreation of Mothra from the Godzilla movies. Her daughter watched the Godzilla movies last fall and has been asking for a Mothra Halloween costume ever since! Per request, it features no buttons, no bows and no ties! The skirt easily slips on over the romper and the forewings snap on and off for ease of wear.

Patterns: Calliandra, Pansy, Baby Fern and Daffodil Bloomers (romper); Freesia (skirt); Appleberry (waistband)

Fabric:  Hand Painted details on the bonnet, skirt, and wings.

Lord of the Rings

Breann Yanagisawa always makes incredible fantasy costumes for her daughter, and Galadriel from Lord of the Rings is no exception! Galadriel is a favorite character of her daughter's, so Breann wanted to make her dreams come true.

Patterns: Posie

Fabric: Raw silk (Fabrics, Laces, and Trims); Polytastic tulle (Tulletastic)

Wednesday

With a new tv series comes a new surge in familiar characters coming back into the spotlight! We had three testers put their own spin on Wednesday Addams this year!

Amanda Flor (@_amf28fell in love with the Raven dress as soon as she saw it and knew she just had to make it for her eldest. Her daughter has wanted a black dress for ages and also loved the Raven dress. The cobweb details on the bodice are stunning!

She also whipped up an Enid costume for her younger daughter. This was a quick and easy sew for a comfy dress!

Patterns: Lantana, Maple, Marigold (Raven); Wattle (Enid)
Fabric: Tulle (Etsy); Spotlight Australia

Annie Feore (@lovefromannie.f) also created Wednesday for her daughter who had been begging for a costume ever since the series released! She has the Wednesday vibe down-pat!

Patterns: Lantana, Acacia, Wisteria and Juniper

Fabric: Organza and silk (Darn Cheap Fabrics)

Melaiah Gibson Jones' daughter has also been begging for a dress since the series came out! She loves anything a little creepy.

Patterns: Lantana, Acacia

Fabric: Black crepe and netting (JoAnn Fabric)

Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz

This year we also had three testers put their own spin on Dorothy. Casey Thornton (@Lydianladybug) took her daughter, Gabby, to see a local theater group production of Wizard of Oz, where she fell in love and has wanted to be Dorothy ever since!

Patterns: Verbena, Powerpuff, Myrtle, Honeysuckle, Posie

Fabric: Blue watercolor plaid (Oh So Pretty Custom Fabrics) and White Kona cotton (JoAnn Fabric)

Elexis (@morelandhandmades) chose Dorothy and Glinda, because she felt that the characters fit her girls personalities well. She wanted something they could use often rather than just one day of the year.

Patterns: Jasmine Romper, Juniper, Myrtle

Fabric: JoAnn Fabric

Haley Hintz (@stitchedbyhaley)'s daughter Sparrow recently watched The Wizard of Oz for the first time and really fell in love with the characters. She asked Haley to make her and her siblings, cousins and dolls costumes from the movie. She created not just Dorothy, but Glinda, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, Munchin, Tin Man (doll) and Wicked Witch (doll) as well! This is seriously epic and we love it!

Patterns: WisteriaApple Berry Tee (Dorothy); Mrytle (Glinda); Apple Berry, FernPeach (Scarecrow); Buttercup (Cowardly Lion); PetuniaDahlia (Munchkin); Rosemary Doll (Tin Man & Wicked Witch).

Fabric: JoAnn Fabrics

I Love Lucy

Amber Campbell (@smileysuestudio) chose Lucy and Ethel singing Friendship for her costumes! This scene from the show perfectly captures the relationship her girls have with each other. Best friends, but not afraid to fight it out!

Patterns: Ivy, Mimosa

Fabric: Hobby Lobby, Tulleshop.com

Blippi

Kristen Redmond (@edenellefabric) has a four year-old with a life-long Blippi obsession! Creating a costume was a MUST!

Patterns: Freesia skirt and Jasmine bodice

Fabric:  JoAnn Fabric

The Hunger Games

To wrap up the day, we have one more incredible look from Bec Smith! She burned the midnight oil to finish up this amazingly detailed Katniss Dress from the Hunger Games! This is her daughter's favorite book and movie series and they both decided the Wedding dress she wore would be the perfect challenge. Bec absolutely loves the skirt with all the organza ruffles!

Patterns: Marigold, Mimosa, Juniper

Fabric: Ruffled organza, embellished tulle and trims (Spotlight Australia). Bec used striped sateen sheets to get the ribbon effect.
