Wedding Week - Day 2

Welcome back to Wedding Week with Peony Patterns! We're excited to kick today's inspiration off with a few beach themed looks. Beach weddings are just so dreamy, and these dresses are sure to bring lots of inspiration in planning the dresses for children and tweens in your bridal party! Candice Schoffstall (Banksia Dress)

Candice always makes the most beautiful things, and her Banksia dress with beautiful double border lace and Cotton Batiste Swiss sponsored by Farmhouse Fabrics, is certainly no exception! We love the dreamy beach vibes in this dress - it would be the perfect flower girl dress at a beach destination wedding, and with these gorgeous heirloom fabrics, certainly a dress to treasure forever! 

To create this dress, Candice modified the Banksia skirt to have a hi-low hem, and added a knee length underskirt.

Belinda Abira (Yarrow Dress + Lantana Dress)

Ever since releasing Yarrow, Belinda has had a dream to mash together the Yarrow and Lantana dresses! We just love how this came together! Bel used the Yarrow bodice and skirt, and incorporated the Lantana sleeves. This lovely look is made from a chiffon crepe with polyester lining, both purchased at a fabric market in the Netherlands. 

Tip! Bel recommends using pattern weights with a rotary cutter, rather than pins and scissors, to cut chiffon out. She also suggests using a sharp (microtex), fine needle, and short stitches when sewing. 

Bec Smith (Marigold Dress + Jasmine Dress)

For Bec's second look, she created this incredible 70's styled long dress from a vintage lace curtain she found at a thrift store (op shop). Personally, I am always so jealous of people who find amazing things to upcycle! 

Bec used the Marigold dress with lengthened sleeves, and a maxi skirt based off the Jasmine skirt. 

Joy Shrode (Daisy Dress)

We just love this simple modification Joy did to the Daisy Dress! With a few layers of tulle in the skirt, the removal of sleeves, and a statement bow in the back, she transformed Daisy into the most perfect beach-chic dress! And the appliqued detail on the front bodice is exquisite! 

Fabric: Kona Sheen and Tulle from Fabric, Laces & Trims

Tip! While Daisy is a quick, beginner friendly sew, tulle requires some patience and extra time!

Kat Rivera (Jasmine Baby Dress & Romper + Gardenia Dress)

And finally a baby make! Jasmine Baby is our newest pattern, and Kat was thrilled to use it for her daughter's outfit! In addition to weddings, this would be a great outfit for an infant baptism, blessing, or christening. We can also see this as a perfect base for a Disney princess costume! 

For this creation, Kat used the Jasmine Baby skirted romper and added the Gardenia bow, tied in the front. She used thrifted poly cotton fabric in the bodice, a vintage cotton sheet for the bow, and the skirt is organza rosette from JoAnn.

Tip! With multiple layers, Kat suggests gathering the skirt and romper together rather than separately, or using Daffodil bloomers with the Baby dress instead. 

Grace Lipscomb (Petunia)

We just love this beautiful heirloom flower girl dress from Grace! Prior to cutting out her sleeves, she inserted lace and added pintucks to the sleeve fabric, then proceeded to cut the pattern out as normal. She added length to the skirt, along with a tier of puffing and extra pintucks in the hem. Such a labour of love, and something we can see being handed down for a few generations! 

Fabric: Batiste (Hobby Lobby), heirloom lace and trims (Stitched It With Love)

Tip! When sewing delicate fabrics, Grace recommends enclosing seams rather than serging them.

Tammie Rech Schaefer (Freesia)

A simple dress with all the statement twirl! Freesia is perfect for flower girl dresses in a hurry! Tammie created this adorable outfit for her daughter with taffeta from her local Walmart. It was her first time sewing with this fabric, and she found it easy to work with. If you're new to sewing or needing dresses that are quick and easy to sew, Freesia is the dress for you!
